Do you like it? I hope you do because I worked really hard on it and if you can't tell, it is a Elephant.
We had to do our Zentangle as a endangered animal because that was our learning focus of the term.

The Music Book
Recently the senior half of our school have been rehearsing dances of our decade. Each lass has their own decade and a song that was created in the decade. Right now we are 2 weeks away from the show.
The story line of our show is 2 girls going and got a magic book for their friends birthday, when the girls open the book music comes out of the book, a different song every page. In the mean time the birthday girls 2 brothers have been sneaking up on the girls and annoying them. In the end the boys turn and some more music and listen to two songs. Finally the girls look at the last page in the book and the finale dance comes on. In the show there will be 10 dances including the finale.
My class dance is Party Rock Anthem.

Kiwi for Kiwi Morning Tea
Kiwi for Kiwi Morning Tea
Today room 1&2 held a Kiwi for Kiwi morning tea for our fundraiser for the Kiwis. We did this because last term our main focus was endangered animals so we used this as our social action. Yes, this was a competition and if we won room 1&2 would get a visit from the Bug Man.
Anyway back to the morning tea, room 1&2 students got split up into jobs. Some of the jobs were selling food, counting money and setting the tables. Once we were all prepared and hands washed we went and stood behind the tables waiting for costumer's.
The bell rang and students flooded out of their classrooms and lined up the food we so fast my table had to close down because their was barely any food left.
In total we raised $600 dollars!!! I bet the Kiwi for Kiwi conservation will be happy.

Auckland Zoo Trip
Yesterday room 1 and 2 went to Auckland Zoo for a school trip because lately out inquiry has been about Endangered Animals.
After all that wandering around we all got together and had a lunch break.
Once our lunch had filled our belly again and or energy was back all of us split in to 2 and went away with some Zoo Keepers to learn about some animals.
Firstly I went of to learn about the Orangutan and Palm oil. The main thing that I learned in that lesson was that 60% of the worlds palm oil comes from Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Next lesson was with tracking tunnels. The main thing that I learned there was that a porcupine is a pest.
After that we had 10 minutes to go around the Zoo and look at more animals before the bus came. This time we looked at the Crocodile, Tarantula and more Monkeys. My favorite animal that we saw here was the Spider Monkey, we even saw them get fed.
Overall this was a great trip and thank you for our Teachers and the Zoo Keepers for letting this happen.
Cheers:

New Classroom
Recently we moved into our new classroom.
From the start of the term room 1 & 2 moved into the library because our classroom was getting renovated. From the start of the year room 5 & 6, 3 & 4 all had their classroom renovated and now it was our turn.
The Journey
It took us into term 3 to until we finally moved out of our classroom and into the library. On the first day of term 3 we were all set up in the library. Our classroom had the wall half knocked down in the two weeks of the holiday.
We spent 5 weeks crammed in the small library space until finally in week 6 we moved out of the library and into our new classroom, Yay!
Now as it is still week 6 I am really enjoying our new classroom, I have hooked into it like it has been here all the time, but it still feels brand new.
This classroom allow's us to have more space to work and learn, and we can work more collaboratively.

Northcross
Yesterday most of the year six's from Long bay primary, Torbay School and 5 from Dairy Flat went to Northcross intermediate for a visit to which may be their Intermediate. I was one of those year six's and I know that I am going to go to Northcross Intermediate next year. My brother already go there but sadly he is moving on next year.
When we got of the bus we were welcomed by the Kapa Huka, next we got told all about the school by the principle, deputy Principle's.
Soon after that the student leaders showed us around the school, ( we got put into groups with 1 or 2 student leaders ), my group was with the Deputy Head Girl.
After the tour we were sent to the courts to play some sports. I played some netball, warm ups, YAY! Next we went back and had a little snack.
Once every body had finished we went back inside and watched some performances of singing and instruments.
Sadly after that we had to go because the tour had taken up a lot of time.
When I walked in I felt quite nervous but walking out of the school I had gained a lot more confidence well I was there, I am super excited for next year.

Learning Conservations
Recently we did our Learning conversations. This year we quite different to all the others because there was 6 or more people having a conservation at once.
This year my mum came with me and we talked about my learning and what I have been up to. I showed her a video I made of my maths and explained my goals. I showed her our language features and my example.
I found it better that I got to explain to my parents what I have been up to, not the Teacher.
Math Week
This week in math we did a math week challenge week. Every day we got a different challenge to and complete. In pairs we created a document to do our answers on.
This is our working document:

Kite Making
On Friday room 1&2 set out making kites.
The reson we made these kites were because of Matariki, kites connect the sky and the Earth in the Matariki ways.
Once we had found our groups of 2,3 or 4, maby even just by yourself we made a plan.
There were prizes for the Best Plan, the Most Traditional, Most Unique and there was also a peoples choice award.
Our group made sure that we hade most of the materials we thought we needed ( it didn't have to go to plan ).
Next we started putting our kite together with the materials we brought from home or some from school.
We had to make our kites in 3 and a half hours ( that was if we needed that much time ). Once our time was over we had to stop what we were doing. We got given a number and that was our name for voting, our number was 5.
After it was all of the voting was done we got told the winners.
Most Traditional was not us
Most Unique was not us
Peoples Choice award sadly was not us
Best plan was us, yippy yippy yay!!

Science
Yesterday we started growing a plant in a shoe box. We made a maze for the plant, in total we had 7 shoe boxes and all of them had different ways of getting the light to the plant like:- Purple light
- Green light
- Purple and green light
- Natural light
- Artificial light
- Lots of holes
- No light
Ours was lots of holes. We did this because we are learning about light.
Our Objective is how does light impact on plants.
Our Hypothesis is If we put holes in the side of the box the plant will grow curvy.
So far our plant has grown 2 cm since we put it in, now it is 19 cm tall ( how tall was it when we put it in? )

Cross Country
Today we went to cross country and we did a few races and on my race I come 10th.
When I go back to school I got told that I had to write a remember poem about cross country:
That was Camp
Remember everybody pushing you to the back when the race was about to start,
Remember the sound of everybody’s feet squishing up the mud as they were running,
That was Cross Country
Remember tasting all of the sweat drying up in your throat as you were turning off the beach, half way,
Remember feeling your feet hit the ground as you landed from jumping over the hurdle,
That was cross country
Remember the noise coming from your stomach as all of your stitches were having a party,
Do you remember seeing the crowd shouting at you to run faster, when your legs couldn’t carry you anymore,
That was cross country.
